Ian W. McDonald was born in Iowa City, Iowa, and attended the University of Northern Iowa for his undergraduate studies in Psychology. Ian moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to attend the University of Tulsa College of Law. While in law school, he was an Articles Selection Editor for the Tulsa Law Review and served as an Executive Director on the Board of Advocates. In law school, Ian competed in numerous Board of Advocates Competitions, including the Trial Skills Qualifier Competition, where he placed first. He also competed in the National Trial Competition in Fort Worth, Texas, during his second year of law school. Ian served as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Gregory K. Frizzell in the Northern District of Oklahoma and also received two CALI Awards in law school for obtaining the highest grade in Interviewing, Counseling, and Negotiation, as well as Cybersecurity Law & Policy. Ian was also inducted into the Order of the Barristers.
Ian practices in the areas of bad faith litigation, insurance defense, and general civil litigation and is a member of the Hudson-Hall-Wheaton Inns of Court and the Federal Bar Association for the Northern/Eastern Chapter. Ian is licensed to practice law in all Oklahoma courts, including the Northern, Eastern, and Western federal district courts.
In his free time, Ian enjoys running, traveling, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
